The orthodontist will examine the patient’s teeth, take photographs & X-rays, and will discuss the options available to achieve the desired outcome. If clear aligners are deemed suitable for the patient’s orthodontic needs, a treatment plan will be provided.
Digital Scanning or Impressions: The orthodontist will take digital scans of the patient’s teeth or traditional dental impressions. These scans are used to create a 3D model of the teeth, allowing the orthodontist to plan the entire aligners treatment process.
Treatment Plan and Custom Aligners: Using the 3D model, the orthodontist designs a series of custom-made aligners that will gradually move the teeth into their desired positions. Each set of aligners is slightly different, applying controlled forces to specific teeth.
Simulation (Video): The patient is provided with a simulation of the manner in the teeth movement during the treatment process for a better understanding and visualization of the desired outcome.
Receiving the Aligners: Once the aligners are fabricated, the patient will receive their first set of aligners and instructions on how to wear and care for them.
Wearing the Aligners: Patients are required to wear their aligners for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only when eating, drinking (other than water), brushing, and flossing.
Progression and Switching Aligners: Every few weeks, the patient will switch to a new set of aligners, progressing through the series as the teeth gradually move into alignment. Regular check-ups with the orthodontist are scheduled to monitor the progress and make any necessary adjustments.
Treatment Completion: Once the last set of aligners is worn, the teeth should be in their desired positions. In some cases, a retainer may be provided to help maintain the achieved results.
